Guest Speaker: Taoist Master Alex Feng
Join us for the first Sunday in a five-week series on the World Wisdom traditions at Unity. This week we will focus on Taoism, the ancient Chinese “way” drawn from the Lao-tzu’s classic book of teaching verses, The Tao te Ching. Master Alex Feng directs the Taoist Center in Oakland and has deep lineage in the Taoist tradition and traditional Chinese medicine. Last August we enjoyed his great humor and insight and welcome his return to Unity.

Guest Speaker: Kunu
On our second World Wisdom Traditions Sunday, we welcome back our friends Kunu and Feather. Kunu’s Thunderbird Clan name is Ma-xeekioga, which means “Touch the Clouds” in his Ho-Chuck native language. In 1986 he was chosen to apprentice in the “unknown Mysteries” and has been doctoring people ever since.
On Tuesday, August 11th, Kunu and Feather will offer a class in Native American Animal Totems. See Classes and Workshops for more information.

Our Guest Speaker: Ron Nakasone, Ph.D, Buddhist cleric, ethicist, and calligrapher, offers reflections on bioethical and other modern dilemmas at a variety of international and national forums and publications. Professor Nakasone is a member of the Core Doctoral Faculty at the Graduate Theological Union (GTU) in Berkeley, California and on the faculty at the Stanford University Geriatric Education Center, and Mahidol University, Thailand. He is an ordained Jod? Shinsh? (Pure Land) priest.

The Sufi tradition is rich in devotion and joy. John Wadude Laird, M.D., Dean of the University of Spiritual Healing and Sufism in Pope Valley, CA, joins us to share wisdom from this Ancient way of life. John received his medical degree from Dartmouth and is a master healer and teacher with a deeply loving presence. We welcome him back for the third year at Unity’s World Wisdom Tradition Series.

Rabbi Avram Davis is a noted author and teacher of Kabbalistic meditation and spirituality. The founder of Chochmat HaLev, a local temple, he is the author of several books, including The Way Of Flame and The Guide to Jewish Meditation. He has a Ph.D. in comparative religion and currently lives in Southern Napa on a farm, where he plants and harvests and is learning the lessons of simplicity.

New Spirit Community Church, our neighbor across the street is hosting an Old Fashioned Barbecue on the lawn after their service on Sunday, July 19 th at approximately 12:30. The menu will include hot dogs (including veggies dogs) and all the trimmings, salads and sides, luscious watermelon, iced tea, and lemonade. The cost is a donation of only $10 or more, and no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
