Annual World Healing and Meditation Event

Saturday December 31, at 4:00 a.m.

World Meditation Day is an annual event at Unity of Berkeley and all Unity ministries across the world. The tradition originally began in December 31, 1986 when men, women, and children around the world gathered to participate in the most comprehensive prayer activity in history—a planetary affirmation of peace, love, forgiveness and understanding involving millions of people.

Leading this event for the fourth consecutive year, Melissa Heckman creates a peaceful environment to enjoy the sacred space of “going in,” envisioning world peace and setting your new year’s intentions. Participants will also share selected readings and a candle-lighting ceremony.

Please note: this takes place on the last day of the year at 4:00 a.m.

Bears and Prayers

Every Christmas at Unity of Berkeley we adopt bears to give to children in need. This year we are adopting 50 bears and will give them to children from three local agencies. In addition to the hugs and love we give to these cuddly bears, we also give our prayerful attention to the young children who will receive them. Each bear sits in the pew on Sunday so they can be hugged and loved, then delivered to the children the week before Christmas.

Love offering (100% benefit to Unity of Berkeley)

This class would do informal staged readings of a play I wrote 3 years ago. The play deals with the intersection of spirituality and politics. While it does not overtly teach or espouse Unity Principles, I think its spirit and message are congruent with them.

The emphasis of the class is on having fun with dramatic art and discussing the implications and possible meanings of the work. It is not about cultivating acting skill or doing anything publicly with the play.

5 people, at the least, needed for class to continue.
